How to make a UPI payment QR code
Enter your UPI ID (the VPA shown in your payment app, such as name@okaxis or number@ybl), your name as you want payers to see it, and optionally an amount and a note. The code is built as a standard upi://pay link in Indian rupees, which Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and bank UPI apps all read.
Always test with a real payment app before printing. Scan the code, check that your name and UPI ID appear correctly, and if possible send a small test amount to yourself from another account.
Fixed amount or open amount?
Leave the amount empty for a counter or donation box, so every customer types what they owe. Set an amount when the price is always the same, for example a monthly tuition fee, a parking charge or a single invoice. The note field is handy for invoice numbers or order references, so you can match payments in your bank statement.
Since the code is static, one shop code can be used for any number of payments and it never expires. For a different fixed amount, simply generate another code.
Printing and placing UPI codes
At a shop counter, a code of around 5 to 8 cm with a frame such as Scan and pay with any UPI app is easy to read from where the customer stands. Laminate it with a matte finish to cut glare, and fix it so it cannot be swapped by someone else. On invoices and bills, a 2.5 to 3 cm code next to the total works well.
Your UPI ID never leaves your browser while you create the code, and payments go directly from the payer’s app to your bank account. This site never handles the money.
Payment confirmations arrive in your own UPI or bank app, not here. Before handing over goods, check that the payment has actually arrived, rather than relying on a screenshot shown by the customer.
